Dear {{ first_name | reader }},
This is the second time I have sent something outside the usual schedule, and I do not do it lightly. But the RiskComms Global Outlook has just passed a milestone, and I would like you to be part of what happens next.
The survey now has 111 responses. That is past the 100 mark, so the global comparison is switched on. Below is the early picture, followed by a request.
How the score works
The headline figure is the Nexus Readiness Score. It is built on the four phases of the Communication Nexus Framework, and each respondent rates how far their organisation does the following:
Anticipate: assessing risk and mapping stakeholders before anything happens.
Engage: taking control of the narrative and protecting life and safety when a crisis hits.
Sustain: holding credibility and managing outrage as the crisis drags on.
Restore: rebuilding reputation and feeding the lessons back into the plan.
The four ratings are averaged and rescaled to a score out of 100, which you see the moment you finish. It is a self-assessment. It shows how practitioners judge their own readiness, not an external audit.
What the first 111 responses say
The average Nexus Readiness Score is 31.1 out of 100. By phase, Restore scores 34.2 and Anticipate 33.8, while Sustain sits at 29.3 and Engage at 26.8. Engage, the moment of impact, is the weakest phase so far.
The readiness bands tell a similar story. 79 respondents (71%) are in Reactive, 22 (20%) in Developing, 7 (6%) in Established and 3 (3%) in Leading.
Please read those numbers with care. This is an early snapshot, not a representative global benchmark, and they will move as more practitioners take part. That is the whole point of this email.
Who has answered so far
Responses come from five regions: Americas 30, Europe 30, Middle East & Africa 26, Oceania 17 and Asia Pacific 8. Seven countries account for 67 of the 111 responses, led by the United States (16), Australia (15) and the United Kingdom (11), followed by Mexico (7), then Nigeria, Canada and the United Arab Emirates (6 each).
The gaps are just as telling. Asia Pacific is the thinnest region by some distance. Almost nothing has come in from South America. And many countries are barely visible at all.
What I am asking of you
I have extended the closing date from 9 November to 30 November, so there is more time than you may have thought.
If you have not taken part yet, please do. It takes about 12 to 14 minutes, it is anonymous, and you get your own readiness score at the end. It is available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.
If you have already answered, thank you, and I have one more favour. Forward this email, or send the link to colleagues and contacts, especially those working in Asia Pacific, in South America, or in countries that barely appear in the list above. One message from you will do more than any campaign of mine, because people answer people they know.

Thank you for reading, and for helping to make the picture a fairer one.
